Erica M. Carter

Associate Director
California Leadership

Despite being raised in a strong Christian home, being saved at an early age, getting a Master’s Degree and having a career as a High School English Teacher, at age 35 Erica Carter found her life completely destroyed by drugs and alcohol. The addiction not only stripped her of her identity, reputation, achievements and possessions, but it led her into areas of darkness that she never thought she would discover and at some points thought she could never escape.  Her most vivid memory was being in a crack motel, 10 minutes away from her childhood home and being bawled up in the corner crying and thinking  “I can’t believe that I gonna die a crackhead”.  Thanks to the prayers and tough love of her family, she found a beacon of hope at the Walter Hoving Home in Garrison NY.

There, she was able to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that she had never experienced before. Completing the program was just the beginning of her journey in Jesus. She gives all the credit to God’s grace and mercy that has enabled and inspired her to work at the ministry for the past 8 years. She started as the Facilities Manager, then became the Principal of Education/Volunteer Coordinator and now is Associate Director of the Pasadena, CA campus.  She is determined to LIVE (Love, Inspire, Value & Encourage) the women each day and serve to the best of her ability while worshipping God every step of the way.
