Leesa Carrera

Director of Facility
New York Leadership

My name is Leesa, I struggled with addiction and homelessness for over 20 years. When I came into the Walter Hoving Home in 1992 that is where I began to understand that Jesus loved me and that I could actually live free from drugs. It was a struggle for me to surrender. I was so used to running away from the deep pain and emotional wounds that I had been carrying for most of my childhood into my adult life.

I went to Youth Challenge International Bible Institute after my time at the Home and then on to Zion School of Ministry, where the Lord brought my husband and I together and we were married. We served in various ministries such as Teen Challenge New England, and the Bowery Mission. I have always felt called to the broken, to the lost and to be an extension of Christ’s love.

I am blessed with an amazing son Daniel Mark. There have been some challenges along the way but the Lord has always been faithful and as I turn to Him my path is set straight once again.

I love to share the hope that set me free and that is found only in Jesus. I found life again.

I am Director of Facilities. One of the most profound statements that I remember in the learning center at the Home that I have carried all of my journey thus far well two…
